I love our above ground pool, but I do NOT like the ladder that came with it – it feels so wobbly and well, scary haha!
That sent me on a mission to find some sort of DIY wood steps or a half deck with a ladder off the house – maybe even an easy pool deck – to replace that horrible standard above ground ladder AND my pool area LOOK a LOT better.

As I said – absolutely LOVE our above ground pool – but DETEST the ladder that came with it.
The very first thing I did was get a NEW ladder.
I wanted something sturdier AND safer – so I got this above ground pool ladder replacement.
Love it! It’s much sturdier and you can totally remove the steps outside the pool for an extra layer of safety (I’m terrified of any of the littles getting to that pool unattended!!!)
We’ve had that replacement ladder for years… but as I get a bit older (and relatives are getting older), I want a better solution – and it’s gonna have to be something we DIY.
Yep, something we build – or have built FOR us.
